Carl Frischkorn grew up in West Virginia and graduated from the Architecture School of Princeton University in 1975. Although he never practiced architecture, he pursued a career in highway construction, coal mining, private equity and real estate development. He lived in Charleston, WV until moving to Charlottesville in 1998.
In Charleston he chaired a capital campaign for the YWCA, was on the Board of the University of Charleston, served on a public bank board and numerous early stage for profit businesses. In Charlottesville, Carl has served on the Boys and Girls Club board as well as on the building committee for its new headquarters.
In 2019, he and his wife Pattie co-founded the 1904 Society of the Big Brothers Big Sisters to stimulate sustainable leadership giving.
