Behavior Technicians work one-on-one with students, and their primary role is to implement the academic and behavioral programs (specific to each student) set forth by the Classroom Supervisor. All Behavior Technicians receive intensive hands-on training, including the required training and supervision for the Registered Behavior Technician credential upon hire. Positions are full time, Monday - Friday.
A high school diploma is required (bachelor’s degree preferred) and prior experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid driver’s license.

The BCBA consults, provides training to caregivers, conducts behavioral evaluations of clients and designs behavior and individual support plans for clients. This position is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, communicating and continually evaluating the effectiveness of functional assessments, behavioral evaluations, behavior plans and individual education plans for clients on their caseload. This role also educates, observes, assesses, and supervises the educational activities and service delivery of Outpatient program staff. The BCBA maintains a weekly billable caseload of service hours as directed by the Clinical Director of Outpatient Behavioral Services.
Qualifications include master’s degree in behavior analysis, psychology or related field; Board Certified Behavior Analyst; valid Virginia license in Behavior Analysis; extensive knowledge and skills in applied behavior analysis and evidence-based strategies for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.
VIA has an opening for a psychology intern responsible for providing clinical services. These services would include therapy and evaluation under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologists to children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder, other neurodevelopmental disabilities, and related mood disorders and externalizing disorders. This part-time position is responsible for maintaining a minimum weekly billable hour requirement and requires a bachelor's degree as well as current enrollment in a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology or a related discipline.
The Outpatient Services Department has an opening for a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The SLP develops and implements clinical intervention for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and/or related disabilities who experience communication deficits. Treatment occurs primarily in the Outpatient clinic space. The SLP provides intervention related to all areas of communication and provides parent and staff consultation and training as needed. The SLP takes an active role in ensuring all communication services are delivered in accordance with current evidence-based practices and are provided in an ethical manner. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) works collaboratively with Behavior Analysts, Clinical Psychologists, and Behavior Technicians as appropriate. The Outpatient SLP maintains a weekly billable caseload of service hours as directed by the supervisor and works a minimum of 20 hours weekly.

The related services team at VIA's Outpatient Services Department is seeking a clinical psychology post-doctoral fellow. This position is responsible for providing clinical services and supervision for outpatient psychological therapy and evaluation to children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder, other neurodevelopmental disabilities, and related mood disorders and externalizing disorders. This is a full or part-time position, requiring a minimum of two days per week and responsible for meeting a minimum weekly billable hour requirement.

The adult services team at VIA is seeking a behavior technician. This position is responsible for conducting independent sessions or in collaboration with other adult services staff, in addition to running skill acquisition programs accurately and using evidence-based instructional technologies during prorgram implementation. The implementation of behavior support plans and additional instructional protocols is also a function of the position. This is a full time position requiring a valid driving license and the ability to assist with special projects.

The Virginia Institute of Autism (VIA) seeks a Marketing and Communications Coordinator (MCC). The MCC reports directly to VIA’s President and CEO and works closely with the advancement team, human resources department, and program directors tell the story of VIA’s work and impact, both externally (to potential donors and candidates for hire) and internally (to current staff, families, board members, donors, and other stakeholders). A significant part of this job is creatively sharing the impact of VIA services on the students, adults, and families we serve in four different service centers (Charlottesville, Lexington, Lynchburg, and Roanoke) through print media, web and social media, video, radio, television and personal appearances.
